Abuela's Stories

Growing up/growing old, I would always/frequently/often spend/waste/devote evenings listening to my abuela/grandmother/grandma tell her/its/these folktales. Every/Each and every/One by one story was a trip to another world, filled with magic/fantastical creatures/supernatural beings, courageous souls, and sometimes even a little/bit of trouble/mischief. They/The stories/Her tales taught me/helped me understand/showed me about life/the world, and always/forever/still today leave a lasting impression/mark on my heart/special place in my memory.

He introduced himself as Shelly and told Maya all sorts of incredible stories about the lake and the beings that lived there. Maya was excited. She had never met a talking turtle before! From then on, Maya and Shelly became loyal pals. They would hang out by the lake, sharing stories.
